Court at José Geraldo Franco Ortiz Sports Complex marks Cavaliers’ sixth court delivered in Brazil and third in partnership with Eaton.
MOGI MIRIM, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – The Cleveland Cavaliers and Eaton, a global intelligent power management company, are continuing their commitment to grow the game of basketball in Brazil by unveiling a newly transformed court in Mogi Mirim. The renovated “Zerão” court at the José Geraldo Franco Ortiz Sports Complex features a new visual identity for the local community and marks the sixth court delivered by the Cavaliers in Brazil and the third in completed in partnership with Eaton.

Designed by artist Karol Stefanini, the court transformation took 35 days to complete and was created to bring a vibrant new basketball space to the Mogi Mirim community. The court artwork showcases the iconic Mojiguaçu River that flows through the region, alongside Cleveland Cavaliers Legend and beloved Brazilian star Anderson Varejão depicted with local youth playing basketball.
“The Cavaliers are proud to create meaningful access to basketball in Brazil through projects that invest in communities and bring people together through sport,” said Allison Howard, Cleveland Cavaliers Chief Commercial Officer. “The transformation of the Zerão court in Mogi Mirim reflects our commitment to growing the game globally, and we’re grateful to Eaton for helping make that impact possible.”
Over the past several years, the Cavaliers have expanded their presence in Brazil through social clinics, fan activations, festivals, watch parties and Portuguese-language digital content, all as part of the franchise’s broader strategy to develop the sport internationally. Since 2023, the Cavaliers have delivered renovated courts at Beco de Nego in São Paulo, Saldanha de Gama in Vitória, Parque Municipal Bruno Nardini in Valinhos and Parque dos Marquinhos in Caxias do Sol, with the Valinhos and Caxias do Sul projects also completed in partnership with Eaton.
“This was a truly meaningful day for our team members in Mogi Mirum,” said Gustavo Schmidt, president of Eaton’s Mobility Group in South America. “Strengthening the communities Eaton calls home is deeply important to our employees, our customers, and our business. I’m grateful to everyone at Eaton and the Cleveland Cavaliers for their commitment to this vital work. Today’s event was incredibly moving and a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together.”
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated court, the Cavaliers, NBA and Eaton hosted a youth basketball clinic, a wheelchair basketball clinic and a Special Olympics Brazil clinic. Building on the Cavaliers’ strategic partnership with Special Olympics International, established in 2024 to expand inclusive opportunities for athletes of all backgrounds, the team collaborates with Special Olympics Brazil to utilize sport as a vehicle for connection, confidence and community-building.
The Cavaliers’ Brazil platform has become a signature part of the team’s international strategy, pairing community investment with programming that expands access to the game for youth and athletes of all abilities.
